Financial

Cancer Council Victoria can provide a one-off cash payment

Your treating hospital or your Private Health Extras may cover part of your expenses

Your superannuation fund may be able to assist you with income during part of your illness and treatment

There is financial assistance for rural people with travel and accommodation and for aids and equipment, wigs, prosthesis

Carers can receive financial support

You can negotiate with your mortgage provider for short-term relief

There are a number of sources of government  assistance, usually intended for those already on a concession card

Some private agencies offer financial relief

Legal

During the course of your treatment and recovery you may have legal concerns about matters such as terms of employment, your will, guardianship for children, Enduring Power of Attorney or insurance. Either consult your family solicitor or seek information from one of the service providers listed in the Directory of Support Services.
